Kara – means empty and Te – means hand. Therefore, Karate translates as “Empty Hand” the Art of self-defense without weapon. The “Dynamic Circle” is a registered non-stock; non-profit organization which introduced the discipline of Shorin-Ryu Karate. Through the art of self-defense one can learn the dynamic lifestyle of self-improvement with the traditional Art that existed since centuries ago. Shorin – Ryu Karate has a simple and straight forward basic fundamental principle. It emphasizes more than just the physical aspect. It is a complete method of self-discipline involving “KOKORO”, the heart and spirit, and “KARADA”, the body. Through the training of the body one can discipline the mind and temper the spirit.
One of the most important purpose of “Karate” is to develop balance within oneself, for wellness, good health, and happy life.
Karate training is especially arranged for the youths and adults who are residents of certain communities with flexible hours for convenience, from Monday to Saturday, Afternoons and Evenings.

SELF DEFENSE – Learning the simple movement of Shorin-ryu Karate is an effective way of self-defense in any dangerous situations. By utilizing every part of the body, it could become a lethal weapon for self-defense when attacked.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE – Karate is for everybody — men, women, and children alike. It’s not too old or too young to start learning Karate. Self-respect with self-discipline from where strength of character and responsibility came from — is the essence of the art that Women and Seniors will learn. The use of weight and strength of the “would be attacker” in self-defense against them.
For those who are interested in competitions, there’s a special training for “ Kata” and “Kumete“ that are required in Local and International Tournaments.
FOR HEALTH – Karate is an excellent and unique way of promoting health and fitness. While learning useful skills of self-defense one will also increase strength, flexibility, speed, and physical power. Through both modern and traditional methods involving cardiovascular and deep breathing exercises, the blood circulation improves, thus strengthening the organs and lengthens life.
FOR THE MIND – Through Karate training, the mind becomes naturally strong. It develops the ability to concentrate and focus the mind to overcome difficult obstacles in daily life. The knowledge of one’s physical strength develops self-confidence.
For a student in Karate, the main opponent is himself. He has to conquer his fears and weaknesses within himself. If one can do this, then, he will be a true winner in life.
THE MEANING OF SHORIN-RYU
There are many Schools of Karate but most of them can trace their origin from the Island of Okinawa. Originally, there were only three existing styles of martial arts. They were named after the places they came from such as: Tomari Te, Shuri-te, and Naha-te.
The Tomari-Te and the Shuri-te styles were unified to form one school which is now known as Shorin-Ryu while the Naha-Te was incorporated with Japanese martial arts now known as Japanese Karate: Wado-ryu, Isshin-Ryu, and Shito-Ryu. According to Oriental Philosophy, to achieve harmony and order in the world, everything must express a balanced nature. So there is Night and Day, Hot and Cold …. in comparison of every karate style which is classified as big stances and small stances. Big stances are stronger while small stances are faster. The philosophy of both is not something that can be understood or explained in a tangible way. But rather through actual training and constant striving for self-perfection, one will come to understand the importance and difference of various martial art styles.
Karate Instructor (Sensei) Rodolfo Gerochi, 4th Dan, Chief instructor for Shorin-Ryu Canada and founder of “Dynamic Circle”, have the honor of being the Student of Latino Gonzales 8th Dan (Father of Philippine Karate and student of Master Chochin Chibana of Okinawa). Rodolfo is the one responsible for spreading the teachings of Okinawan Shorin-ryu Karate in Canada.
Instructor (Sensei) Rodolfo has 40 years’ experience in Karate, both competitions and teachings. A former Regional Champion and National Trainer himself, Instructor (Sensei) Rodolfo has produced 16 Black Belters and Champions in the span of five year teachings when he was in the Philippines. In year 1994, he started teaching Karate in Canada (Aurora, Ontario) but stopped after two years when his partner sold the Karate Club for a huge profit. He was offered another Karate School to teach but refused. He went to work as Machine Operator in various Companies until he started “Dynamic Circle” in year 2010. Today, at age 56 yrs. & after his Doctor’s advice, he got back his excellent health from extensive physical exercise which greatly Logo.jpg
When you begin your journey along the road of Karate, you will be entering a tradition with more than one thousand years of history behind it. Passed down from generations to generations through the ages, Karate evolved long ago in feudal China. From China, Karate spread to the shores of Okinawa where it was blended with the native art of “TE” which formed a refined and extremely effective method of self-defense.
Learning from Sensei Rodolfo, one could become a link to the old “Karate tradition”.
